Arthur Lee Davison, 83, of Carlsbad, CA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 4:00 PM, January 1, 2020. The son of Earl and Helen Davison of Stronghurst, Illinois, Art was born in Burlington, Iowa on May 8th, 1936. A 1954 graduate of Stronghurst High School, he married Dorothea Jones on June 14, 1958. Art and Dot spent 57 years together and had a wonderful life filled with success, travel and most important to them, time spent with friends and family. He is survived by 3 sons, Ken Davison of Carlsbad CA, Ron Davison of Vista CA and Greg Davison of Buenos Aires Arg., 3 grandchildren: Jordan Davison (Ken), Katie Davison (Ken) of Carlsbad CA, most recently Art’s new pride and joy, Juan Davison (Greg) of Buenos Aires. Art is also survived by his daughter in law, Kristy who he loved like his own. Art could really spread the love and was always, a very kind, generous, caring and thankful person. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to many. Art also had a very successful business career. Art earned his master’s degree in physics from Purdue University and spent nearly 40 years in the business of scientific instrumentation where he was universally respected in his field, an innovator and inventor (US Patent US4620148A) and an effective, international executive. Art loved science, engineering, cycling, traveling with Dot and was always learning. He had an insatiable appetite for knowing and understanding as much as he possibly could. He was well read and well spoken. He was a man who understood how the planets aligned, how the elements of the periodic table interacted and why the number Pi was important. He could build and rebuild anything whether it was a spectrometer, the engine of a 1965 Mustang or a son’s direction in life, a bruised ego or his hurt feelings. Of all the things he loved, Art loved his family the most. He will be remembered as a special man with a gentle and loving soul. To the day he died he touched people with a warmth that only few ever do. His positive spirit will live on forever with his beloved family and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at Eternal Hills Cemetery & Mortuary, 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, on February 15th at 10am. Memorials in Art’s name (in honor of the love of his life, Dot) can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization http://www.lbda.org/go/donate.
As we wrote when Mom passed, sometimes you meet someone in your life that inadvertently showed snippets of genuine kindness, never realizing how much profound effect it would have in your heart.
