Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at Milford Center in Milford, Delaware where she
resided bedside next to her beloved sister for the past 4 1⁄2 years. Born
December 16, 1929 in Arkansas City, Kansas, she was the daughter of the
late Glen and Mildred Hamby.
Mrs. Cross graduated from Anaheim Union High School in Anaheim,
California in 1948. She and her husband married in 1958 and relocated to
the bay area in 1962. She worked as a bank teller for Bank of America in
Fairfield, Suisun and Rio Vista, CA. She enjoyed bowling, and bowled on
leagues at Fairfield Bowl for over 30 years. She also enjoyed gardening,
crafts and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Cornelson (88) of Milford, her
daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bryan Ward of Milford, and her son,
Bryan Cross of California; five grandchildren: Daniel Ward and Susan
(Tony) Williams, Matthew (Kat), Jacob (Kalyn) and Tyler Cross; and six
great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56
years, Donald E. Cross and a baby sister, Dorothy Mae Hamby, who died
in 1937 of pneumonia at the age of 2 1⁄2.
Along with her husband, Mrs. Cross’ wishes were to scatter her cremains
off the coast of Marin County, California near the Golden Gate Bridge.
