Just found out about Dian and was shocked. My mom, Dora Elrod, used to work with her at the State Budget & Control Board. They had some fun times. I heard many stories back in the day. Mom and I were shopping in Belk the beginning of January this year and ran into Dian. They stood in jewelry and talked while I shopped. They were so excited to see each other and even planned on getting together and 'catch up'. This is so sad and just goes to show you how fast things can happen. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.  

It is with heavy heart and great sadness that we express our deepest sympathy to Dian’s family. What an amazing person Dian was. Her love for family, her friends, her church and her community was unconditional. Her  compassion for others was greatly admired and her friendship will be forever treasured. 
May God will wrap His loving arms around her family. May they draw strength, comfort and peace in the days ahead with His grace. Rest In Peace our sweet friend.

There are a few people in your life that are so memorable, that you can’t find the words except heartbroken.  We were friends all our lives.  Growing out here in the country, we could ride bikes or walk (not many people but we had quality).  Life won’t be quite the same.  Love ya.  My sincere sympathy to the family.  

Memories...there are so many from high school but my most vivid is, as Joyce mentioned, on our senior trip/cruise.  Dian got so seasick that the Dr. had to come to her cabin.  I can still see that non English speaking man giving her a shot and I can hear Dian’s scream.  I had to teach a lot of people how to give shots during my 50 years of nursing and that image always came to mind on how NOT to do it.  
Even though I have not seen here often over the years, I have nothing but good memories.

Growing up in the same rural community, Dian and I enjoyed our friendship through twelve years of school.  And afterwards, as we worked toward our college degrees.   Remembering our grade school years at the old Dutch Fork Grammar School, playing ball with a bat about the side of a barn door, or convincing the Principal that we could mend the clouds that were torn in the backdrop on the auditorium stage, or our high school years when four of us were stacked in a 6 x 8 cabin on our senior cruise.    Memories are precious and I treasure the ones made with Dian.

It is with great sadness and disbelief that we mourn the passing of Dian. She was such a kind, caring and compassionate neighbor and friend to our family and to many others in the community. To the family, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy and pray that God will wrap his loving arms around you and grant you strength, comfort and peace in the days ahead.

We spent many years together at school and church. I remember us goofing off in typing class as neither of us seemed too interested in secretarial skills. You loved sports, playing basketball for Irmo and later softball for Bethlehem. You left so many wonderful memories as a classmate, friend, parishoner and especially as a loving Aunt. We will not forget these times, remebering your  smile, lots of love and laughter. All evidence of a life well lived.

Dian, I will always remember your wit from high school. We could laugh at the silliest things. You were always the more mature, especially when it came to my Studebaker. Your smile and light will be missed but not forgotten. It was an honor to have known you.
