LYNN – Jean (Durkee) Anderson, age 93, of Beverly, formerly a longtime resident of Fernwood Ave in Lynn and Londonderry, NH, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Pilgrim Rehab and Skilled Nursing in Peabody. Jean was the devoted wife of Warren M. Anderson of Beverly with whom she shared 73 years of marriage.
Born on December 22, 1926 in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Sheldon) Durkee. Jean was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School with the Class of 1944. She also graduated from Katharine Gibbs School in Boston and worked as a secretary at Carr Fastener Corp in Cambridge for several years.
Jean was the loving mother of Richard Anderson and his wife, Donna of Lynnfield and Douglas Anderson and his wife, Anna of Lynn; the cherished grandmother of Brian Anderson and his wife, Christina of New York City, Heather Kuberski and her husband, Jason of North Andover, Marisa Anderson of Boston, Douglas R. Anderson and his wife, Sharyn of Beverly and David J. Anderson and his wife, Kelly of Wilmington; the adoring great-grandmother of Quinlan, Arthur, Elise, Joshua, Oliver, Annika, Andrew, Ryan, Hanna, Leah, Cora, Nathan and Ashley; the dear sister of the late Betty Jo Burke and Norman Durkee and the aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Jean was an avid Boston sports fan; she was a former season ticket holder with her husband of the Bruins and Celtics and she never missed a Red Sox or Patriots game. She also enjoyed watching golf and tennis. She was a former member of Lakeside Methodist Church and loved singing in the choir at Central Congregational Church. Most of all she loved spending time with her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
