Born on January 2, 1949, to the late Filemon Marquez and Leonora Cruz Marquez in Parañaque Rizal, Philippines, Estelita Marquez de Leon was loved by so many. She loved and enjoyed life with her brothers and sisters, and celebrated a life together with Joseph Ferrer de Leon as they married on June 30, 1972. Their marriage of 48 years has blessed them with four children and eight grandchildren, who will all truly miss her but have confidence and assurance that she is now in Heaven with her Savior.
She was a mother who always wanted her kids to have what she couldn’t. Even when times were tough, she and Joseph sacrificed and struggled to make sure their children had a solid, Christian education, from grade school and on through college. Her children have seen the sacrifices, the struggles, but even the joy and satisfaction in seeing where they are today. She loved her grandchildren so much. She joyfully and excitedly loved each grandchild and reminded them constantly. She loved with open arms and a full heart three grandchildren who joined our family through adoption—she showed them a selfless and heartfelt love that made them feel accepted, loved, and wanted; they will all truly miss their “Lola” but know she truly loved them with all her heart and is now watching them from heaven.
Anyone who knew her, knows that she ALWAYS made sure you had something to eat, no matter what. It could be late at night, and she’ll be asking if you’re hungry. You might have just finished eating, and she’ll be asking if you’re hungry. From friends to strangers, she always wanted those around her to be full and happy.
While she was loved and will be truly missed here on this earth by her brothers, sisters, family and friends, we rejoice in that she is dancing in Heaven with her Savior, celebrating in a new body that her body on this earth cannot even compare to. Her wish and joy is that we truly celebrate the life she was given, not sorrowing for her. While she is no longer here on earth with us, we rejoice in that we will be with her again some day, rejoicing and dancing with our Savior together.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” -Ephesians 2:8-9
“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” -1 John 5:13
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” -1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
