Zane E. Burns was born on October 15, 1936, to Woodrow and Maye Goins Burns, and he returned to God on March 9, 2020 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley, and their son, Zane E. Burns, Jr. (Kristie), all of Brentwood, Tennessee. He is survived by one sister, Betty Shaeffer, and her family.
Zane was a graduate of David Lipscomb High School and College. He worked for the Tennessee Central Railroad, Kusan Manufacturing Company, Nashville Freight Bureau, and retired from Waldenbooks as a director of transportation. He was much loved for his leadership and quiet generosity towards someone in need.
Named for the author Zane Grey, Zane was an avid reader and loved learning about the Old West. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a Tennessee Vol for Life!
Zane was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and last worshipped with the congregation at Brentwood Hills. We are thankful for Christian family and friends who helped him throughout this journey.
