William D. Bustamante, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, passed away in Erie, Colorado on March 17, 2020. He was born on April 11, 1945 in Longmont, to the late Isadora Olguin and Edward Bustamante. William (Willie), grew up and attended schools in Longmont, with his 3 brothers: Louie, Felix and John, and 8 sisters: Grace, Louise, Ann, Mary, Barbara, Carol, Bernadette, Virginia. Willie joined the Army in 1965 and served his country in the Vietnam War as a medic. After spending a few years in the military, he left to return home and began his relationship with Mona Zamudio. After dating the love of his life for a year, Willie married Mona in December of 1969. They were married for 50 years. Willie pursued a career with the postal service in 1969 and lived with Mona in Boulder, Co. He retired from the postal service in 2006 after 36 wonderful years. Willie was the proud father of three children: Brandon (48), Matthew (46) and Lisa (40). He had six grandchildren: Dax (17) Dominic (16) Gabriella (16) Mia (8) Dawson (7) Arianna (6). Family and friends were extremely important in his life. Willie enjoyed taking his ‘39 Pontiac to car shows, taking his family on vacations, hunting with his nephew Louie and friends, and most of all, teaching his family how to fly fish while camping in Wyoming. Hunting and fishing were his favorite hobbies and passions. Willie never knew a stranger. He made friends easily and effortlessly. He touched everyone he met. He was a kind, generous, and caring man, whose spirit lit up every room he entered. Willie will be remembered for his funny moments with people, his contagious personality, his loyalty to his friends and family, his inspiration to his kids, and the never-ending love he had for his wife Mona.
