Albert Wayne Cook, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 in Okemos, Michigan. Born July 29, 1927, Al was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War, where he served honorably as a paratrooper. He later graduated from courses at Michigan State University.
For over 70 years, Al farmed along with his family in the Okemos/Mason area, operating Cook's Egg Farm in Okemos. Al was a Charter Member of All Color Tractor Club, participating in the Mackinaw Bridge Tractor crossing for many years. Al was a 4-H Leader and active in the Ingham County Fair, as well as participating in the Michigan Farm Bureau and serving as County President and State Board Member.
He was also one of the founders of Pennway Church of God Living Nativity, where he provided animals and support for the Nativity for over 50 years. He participated in numerous church work Missions, and when he wasn't serving at church, he faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Cook; his parents, Adeline (Thunder) and Ralph Cook; his in-laws: Elsie (Droscha) and Paul Rowe; brother, David Cook; and sisters, Alice and Kathleen Cook.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 70 years, Alice (Rowe) Cook; his children, Wayne (Robin) Cook, Dwight (Gloria) Cook, Kathy (Kevin) Marble, and Roger (Stacy) Cook; grandchildren, Erin (Ben) Cohoon, Ben (Kristi) Cook, Justin (Margaret) Cook, Logan (Robin) Cook, Ashley (Josh) VanHorn, Matt (Amanda) Marble, Sarah Marble, Corey (Paige) Cook, Kyle (Lexi) Cook, Claire Cook; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Al is survived by two brothers, Ron (Karen) Cook and Russ (Sharon) Cook, and two sisters, Mary Norton and Carol Cowgill.
Interment will be private. A celebration of Albert’s life is postponed until further notice due to restrictions on gathering all his family and friends together.
