Humor, hard work, and service to others were the core values that defined David. He loved to keep busy and had a variety of hobbies. Whether it was gardening or photography, David always included his family. Although he worked in many fields, he was most proud of his work in the kitchen of St. Vincent de Paul, where he helped cook meals and serve people who were experiencing homelessness. He had the ability of using donated ingredients in innovative and delicious ways. When David was around family and friends, laughter was never far away. He had a quick wit and a penchant for puns. David also had a special gift for being able to correctly guess what was inside a wrapped gift without even touching it, which continues to baffle his daughters.
David is survived and celebrated by his daughters, Devin Erikson and Darcy Ljunggren, and son-in-law, Jason Ljunggren. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Gage and Hayden Ljunggren. David’s spirit joyously joins his wife of 52 years, Emily, their daughter, Erin, his parents, Frank and Inez Erikson, and brother, Charles.
