Anthony (Tony) Peter Bialy was born on June 12, 1933 in Buffalo, New York. He died at home on May 3, 2020, after a long illness. He was the son of Lawrence and Mary (Papiesz) Bialy. He had six sisters; Ann (Stanley Hajduk), Emily (Donald Uhlman), Eleanor (Wally Stec), Bridget (Roman Borzecki), Christine (Leonard Weise) and Cecilia (Richard Brocki) and two brothers; Peter and Leo (June Beck). Both his parents were Polish immigrants and Polish was his first language.
As a young man he served in the National Guard, and the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War (1953-55). He lived in Canada after the war, managing Dairy Queen restaurants around Toronto and London, Ontario. He also worked as a part-time wedding photographer. After moving back to Buffalo, he continued working in the restaurant business. He was employed by Western Automatic Vending Company. During the summers he worked as the food service manager at Fantasy Island Amusement Park on Grand Island, New York. The rest of the year he traveled throughout the northeast supervising their other locations. When the company purchased a drive-in restaurant in Niagara Falls, New York, he became the manager. It was located next door to the home of his future wife and her family.
After leaving the restaurant business, he pursued his love of aviation by training as a pilot ay Embry-Riddle Aeronautical School in Florida.
In 1970, he married Ann Curry and moved to California. He attended Northup Institute of Technology and earned his Air Frame and Power-plant Maintenance certification. He worked as an aircraft mechanic in Southern California and later owned his own aircraft repair business at the Monterey Peninsula Airport.
Tony had many interests. He was an avid collector, accordion player, and late night ebay shopper. He enjoyed photography, fishing, volunteering, and growing bonsai. He loved classic cars and boats, his 1947 Cessna airplane, pierogi, spicy mustard, and milkshakes. He was also known for his wry sense of humor.
He was a resident of Monterey County for forty-one years. During that time he volunteered for many organizations including: North Monterey County Fire, SCRAMP, the Girl Scouts, Hospice, and Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ann, and two daughters: Erin Ann (Brandon Miller) and Jennifer Marie (Joseph Bailey) and four grandchildren; Scout Anthony Miller, Sierra Ann Miller, Jack Edward Bailey, and Patrick Joseph Bailey, and numerous nieces and nephews.
