Estelle Louise Holekamp of Kingwood, TX passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Mother’s day, May 10, 2020. Estelle was born on June 23, 1927 in Fredericksburg, Texas, the daughter to Alvina and Bodo Doebbler of Comfort, Texas. She was raised on a working ranch and farm where she learned to ride a horse as a child. Estelle graduated from Center Point High School.
During WW2 she worked at the San Antonio Arsenal as an assistant to the Commander where ammunition was made and shipped overseas. After the war Estelle worked for Southwestern Bell telephone for several years.
In 1948 she met and married James C. Holekamp, retired Major USAF also from Comfort, TX. Their first 3 years of marriage involved a lot of moves – from Kerrville to Omaha to North Dakota to Montana then back to San Antonio. Their final move was to Kingwood, TX where they raised 3 children in the Livable Forest and here is where Estelle excelled as a realtor for Friendswood Development Company’s New Home Sales for 20 years. She was very successful and received multiple Million Dollar Sales Awards throughout her career. In 1987 Estelle received the prestigious Salesperson of the Year PRISM Award(Professional Results in Sales and Marketing) with sales of 13.6 million.
Estelle was an active member of Kingwood United Methodist Church for many years where she volunteered on the church weekly Forest Reflections news publication. In addition, she volunteered many hours delivering flowers to nursing and retirement homes. On Sundays many times you would see her greeting everyone with a smile before entering the service.
Although she loved her profession with a passion her greatest pride and joy were her loving husband, children and grandchildren who called her Nana. Estelle is preceded in death by her parents, husband James C. Holekamp; brothers Commander Gordon Doebbler and Glendon Doebbler. She is survived by daughter Jeannine K. Jones and husband John, sons James W. Holekamp and wife Tammy, Gordon G. Holekamp and wife Julie; grandchildren Katie, James, Parker, Kendall and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at the Houston National Cemetery.
Due to current circumstances, a memorial service will be planned in the near future at the Kingwood United Methodist Church, Kingwood, TX
