Of Jackson, passed away peacefully at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital with her children by her side on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at the age of 88. In addition to her parents and two sisters, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William “Billy Bob” Schenkel in 2011. She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Lisa (Donald) Jones, Susan Schenkel, and Steven (Stephanie) Schenkel; three grandchildren, Kristen (Korey) Badgley, Sydney and Seth Schenkel; great granddaughter, Karter Belle Badgley, all of Jackson. Eleanor was born in Kent City, Michigan on July 13, 1931 to Raymond and Dorothy (Holben) Killion. Eleanor graduated from Thornapple Kellogg High School located in Middleville Michigan in 1951. Eleanor attended Nursing School at Sparrow Hospital and furthered her education at U.C.L.A. Medical Center and was employed by Mercy Hospital in Jackson, Michigan as a Registered Nurse. Eleanor’s compassion and caring as a nurse continued as she became a full time mother and was able to stay home and be a caregiver to her children and her beloved husband. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to sincerely thank the caring staff at Faith Haven Senior Care Center for providing comfort, friendship and love for Eleanor over the past 10 years. Eleanor will be laid to rest beside her husband at Hillcrest Memorial Park during a private family commital service. The family will receive friends at Chas. J. Burden & Son Funeral Home for a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. You will be escorted into the funeral home in limited numbers in accordance with CDC guidelines. All will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eleanor’s memory may be made to Faith Haven Senior Care Center Nursing Home, 6531 W.
