Doris H. Rogers, age 97, of Morris, Alabama passed away on Sunday May 17, 2020. Doris was born June 26, 1922 to the late Thomas Archie and Lillie Belle Handley. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School and went on to work as Lo Ray's Restaurant but spent most of her life as a stay at home mother and helping her husband raise a garden to can and freeze fresh vegetables. She was a longtime member of Glenwood Baptist Church and met with many of the ladies at church on a weekly basis to quilt. She was a excellent seamstress and loved sewing for others and made numerous wedding gowns over the years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband John Brownlowe Rogers, her brother Thomas Floyd Handley, two sisters Sylvia Wanda Montgomery and Gloria Madge Hodges. She leaves behind her devoted daughter Billie Faye Glenn (Tommy), one granddaughter Angela Marshea Glenn and a grandson Thomas (TommyJr.) Glenn, along with three great-grandchildren : Makensie Glenn, Madison Glenn and Sawyer Dyer. She is also survived by her brother Roger David Handley, two sisters Lauretta Faye Hartney and Patsy Joy Abbott.
A visitation for Doris will be held Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 21, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A burial will occur at Glenwood Baptist Cemetery, 1929 Glenwood Rd, Morris, Alabama 35116-1938.
Due to the Covid 19 restrictions only 30 people can be allowed in the chapel at anytime and social distancing protocol will be in place for the visitation and service. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we celebrate the life of Mrs. Doris H. Rogers.
