Jack graduated from Southeast High School in 1965 where he was known as a class clown. Following graduation, Jack married his high school sweetheart, Susan Jean Keith, and they started a family in Kansas City, Missouri. They celebrated 53 years of marriage in December. Jack could often be found on the golf course or fishing in any body of water. He was an avid bowler, and was on a league for many years. Jack and Susan loved traveling, from Hawaii to Alaska, to the northeastern coast of the US. He was also active in Boy Scouts and coaching his sons little league baseball teams. In his later years, his grandkids were a great joy in his life and he enjoyed every moment of his time with them.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a sister, Diana, a brother, Ray, as well as his beloved dogs Daisy May and Shadow.
Jack and Susan had two sons, Jeffrey Long and Christopher Long (Flo), as well as one daughter, Elizabeth Romine (Shawn Sinay). He had five adored grandchildren, Andrew Williams (Brittany Brooks), Jacob Long, Kaitlyn Long, Jessica Anderson (Brandon) and Grace Romine. He also has three step-granddaughters, Samantha, Jenna, and Brooklyn Panzner. He recently became a great-grandfather to Emma Jane Williams and Astrid Rose Anderson. Jack has one surviving brother, John Long (Jeannie), as well as many extended family members and friends. He also leaves behind his second love, his dog Abby.
