Handel's early life: Ina Knibb was his biological mother. Mildred Knibb was Ina’s sister and was the woman who raised Handel. The family did not know about Handel’s birth until after Ina’s passing. Ina had a good friend named Mary who informed the family of the news. Mildred heard Handel's "Hallelujah” Chorus and loved the composer and said that if she ever had a boy, she would name him Handel. Mildred had also adopted a little boy who died before Handel‘s birth. In addition to her caring heart, Mildred was a woman with a sharp intellect.
Handel’s Professions: Handel worked with a firm in Jamaica named R. Hannah and Sons as a window trimmer. He was extremely talented in decorating. Among his venues were weddings and retail store windows. Handel would turn any drab space into one of exquisite style. He made a decent living as second manager. Handel came to the United States in 1968 and worked at the Bank of New York from 1969 to 1989, the year he retired. He moved to Georgia in 1994 and resided there the rest of his life.
Handel’s Favorites: Handel loved chocolate ice cream and of course, his Caribbean food, especially oxtails and beef patties. Handel had a great love of classical music and a substantial collection of the such. He very much enjoyed his nature shows and old Western films. The only thing he regarded more was his Bible.
Handel’s Descendants: Handel’s successors were at the center his joy. He had two children: Celia Elizabeth Smith in 1962 and a son named Lloyd. Handel had four grandchildren: Danielle Elizabeth Hall, Matthew Jordan Hall, Dylan Zachary Gunter and Amaya Elizabeth Smith. He had four great-grandchildren: Tatiyana Sarai Martin, Jordan Christine Hall, Matthew Alexander Hall and Noah Jayden Martin.
Though he will be missed, Handel will never be forgotten. He was an easygoing guy and as fitting, he drifted off from this world peacefully in his sleep. He left a lasting impression on many people. Everyone who knew Handel is left with many heartily laughter provoking stories about him to share. Now, he can have all the chocolate ice cream, oxtails and classical music that his heart desires. Rest in Heaven Handel.
