Mildred Elaine Hygema, 74 passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 20th, 2020. She was born on October 27,1945 in Jacksonville, Florida and was the daughter of the late James & Pearl Burch.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Jimmy and Glenn Burch. Elaine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked at Prudential, Sears and JEA over the years. Elaine was a devout Christian and member of Dinsmore Baptist church. Her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years John Hygema, sons Randy Hygema, Brian Hygema (Melissa), and Kevin Hygema
(Marco), grandchildren Brittany Hygema, Blake Hygema, Brandon Hygema and Brooke Hygema, great-grandson Brayden and sister Charlotte Shaw.
Elaine was an excellent cook, baker and homemaker. Many will remember her by the meals she prepared for her friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 28, in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Riverside Funeral Home & Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd. with Rev. Lee Whitaker. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, May 27th at the funeral home.
