Mrs. Mary C. O’Connor, (nee Galvin), died peacefully at home on May 21, 2020 in Overland Park, KS at the age of 88. Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years James O’Connor of Overland Park, KS; her son, Timothy O’Connor (Barbara) of Overland Park, KS; her daughters, Katie Audley (John) of Overland Park, KS, Eileen Quinn (Dr. John) of Bucyrus, KS, Maureen Miners (Mike) of Merritt Island, FL, Peggy Auld (Jesse) of Kansas City, MO, and Theresa Osner (Steve) of Shawnee, KS. Mary leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bridget (Cahill) Galvin, of Kansas City, MO; siblings, John, Thomas, Sr. Ann, BVM, Sr. Eileen, BVM, Fr. Jim C.M., Agnes, Margaret and Frances.
Mary was born on October 23, 1931 in Kansas City, MO. The same day and year as her one true love. She graduated from St. Aloysius Catholic High School. She was a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary Ancient Order of Hibernians, co-founded Irish American Social Club, an avid volunteer in organizations such as the Girl Scouts of America, St. Mary’s Food Kitchen and Queen of the Holy Rosary Altar and Rosary Society. Her faith, family and friends were Mary’s passions in life. Her Irish smiling eyes will be missed.
A private mass will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary in Overland Park. A private burial will be held Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa.
