César Augusto “Bollo” Cibils was born in Paraguay, South America on February 18, 1933 to parents Manuel and Maria Carmen Cibils. He passed away peacefully in Houston, Texas on June 2, 2020 at the age of 87.
César graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Asunción in Paraguay. He also studied at Purdue University on a scholarship from the American Road Federation, representing Paraguay. After marrying his wife Clara Dina Zaldivar, they moved to Houston in 1964 where he began working for Brown & Root. César later received a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston and worked as a professional engineer for various engineering companies, including a foreign assignment with PLT Engineering in the United Kingdom. After retiring from engineering, he became a technical, English to Spanish and Spanish to English translator. He collaborated with several translators on different jobs making many good, life-long friends. César was devoted to his Catholic faith for strength and guidance and was a parishioner of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church beginning circa 1970. He very much enjoyed spending time with friends and visiting his extended family. César also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He formed a musical group called Jasyjateré which focused on playing the music of Paraguay.
César is predeceased by his beloved wife Clara Dina Cibils who passed away in 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Leticia "Letty" Bak and son-in-law Steven Bak of Houston, son Jacques and daughter-in-law Natacha of Montgomery, Texas, grandson Michael Bak of Austin, Texas, siblings Luis "Toti" Cibils and wife Betty of Clearwater, Florida, Maria Carmen "Carmencha" Cibils and Mario Rubén "Nonin" Cibils both of Asunción, Paraguay, and Teresita "Tere" Cibils de Bell of Gandía, Spain, as well as many other loving extended family members and dear friends. César will always be remembered and will be truly missed.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate this wonderful man’s life during a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, August 5, in the sanctuary of St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Dr. in Houston, Texas, 77055, where the Rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Dan O'Dowd officiating.
