Douglas David Nikel, age 56, was born on January 21, 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio. After marrying his wife, Lisa (nee Gerhart) his "Dear" in 1992, they moved to New Port Richey, Florida in 1994. Doug enjoyed family time at home with Lisa and their kids, Greta (16) and Nathan (14). Taking Greta and Nathan to bowling, water-skiing, and attending their school events were important to Doug.
In addition to being an avid NASCAR fan, Doug looked forward to camping trips, riding ATVs, and daily bike rides with his family. He was a member of the Tampa Bay Water Ski Show Team. As the owner of A to Z Tool Sharpening, Doug could fix anything and was meticulous in his work as a sheet metal fabricator and welder.
Doug is preceded in passing by his beloved parents, August and Dorothy Nikel (nee Strahsburg).
The legacy and memory of Doug lives on in his wife, Lisa; his daughter, Greta; his son, Nathan; his sister, Joyce (nee Nikel) and her husband, Reinhold Toerek; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, family, and friends.
Doug’s kind, calming, and gentle spirit, smile, humor, and workshop talents will be missed by many.
The date for a Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later time.
