Welton Rodger Carter, age 88, of Warrior, Alabama passed away on Friday June 19, 2020. Welton was born June 11, 1932. He was a member of Skyline Drive church of Christ and graduate of Cordova High School and the University of North Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father Wesley Carter and his mother Vister Banks Carter. Welton leaves behind his devoted wife of 56 years Leah Ray McAvoy Carter, his sister Wandell Custred (Wayne), son Jeffrey Carter (Pennie), daughter Rebecca McDuffee (Billy), grandson Wesley Carter (Jenna), granddaughters Sarah Ellison (Kyle), Kelsie Crawford (David) and Lauren McDuffee and two great grandsons Tripp Rodger Carter and Cotton Carter Crawford. He also survived by numerous other family members and a host of friends.
Welton served our country in the United States Army and was a Korean war veteran. He owned and operated Welton Carter Real Estate and was co-developer of the Smoke Rise community where he was dedicated servant.
A visitation for Welton will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A celebration of life service will be held in the same location Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
There will be an internment service at Oakwood Memorial Gardens, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, Alabama 35071. Services will be officiated by Tommy Andrews and Kyle Ellison.
