Funeral services for Dr. C.K. Patel will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park. The family will begin to receive friends one hour prior to service time.
Dr. C.K. Patel was born in Sarsav, Gujarat, India and immigrated to the United States for graduate studies in the fields of Education and Psychology. After earning his Master’s and PhD Degrees from Indiana University, he became a U.S. citizen and worked as Professor, Dean of Students and Department Chairman at colleges and universities in the Chicago, IL, area for 35 years. He was a well-known professor of Psychology at Triton College, River Grove. He was a very friendly, popular, sought after teacher, colleague, and effective administrator who contributed significantly to the initial development of distance learning options in community college course work.
C.K. also helped many individuals as advisor and therapist utilizing the techniques of Rational Emotive Psychotherapy. He was generous in giving advice, support and guidance to a wide circle of friends and to many other immigrants in his extended family. He enjoyed his retirement years despite several serious illnesses. He passed away peacefully in Sarasota, FL, in the presence of his wife, son and daughter-in-law. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a sister, three brothers and many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that anyone who may want to send flowers would instead please make a donation to a food bank of your choice or to the non- profit organization “Doctors Without Borders.”
