Gery Jackson

Gery Jackson of Arlington, Texas passed away peacefully at home on September 6th with his beloved bride of 52 years, Terri, by his side. After a long fight with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, he was able to hear the words from his Savior, "Well done good and faithful servant," as he entered into paradise early Sunday morning.

Gery was born on September 30, 1944 in Montgomery, Alabama to the late Henry Gerhard Jackson and Catherine Louise Jackson. After he graduated from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, he served in the US Air Force for 4 years as a radar technician. While in the Air Force, Gery was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Sherman, Texas, and finally in Fortuna, North Dakota.

After he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, Gery and Terri moved back to Montgomery, Alabama where he started a career in the medical industry. He began working for Kendall Healthcare, then CR Bard in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Gery, Terri and their family moved to Birmingham, Alabama to continue Gery's career with American Edwards Laboratories. He began working for Medtronic Inc in Birmingham and then in 1989 he received a promotion to Southwest Regional Manager which moved the family to Arlington, Texas. After 27 years of dedicated service as a cardiovascular specialist, Gery retired. Gery’s passion in the medical industry led him to consistently perform in the top percent of sales and win numerous awards of excellence.

While in Arlington, Gery was a very active member of his community. He was a longtime member of the North Arlington Rotary Club, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and was a devoted servant to Mission Arlington. He also was the 1st Baseman to the Arlington Clippers, his senior softball team who were the 2010 Senior Softball Champions.

Gery was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Arlington for 31 years and regularly attended the Wednesday morning prayer breakfast.

Gery was a huge sports enthusiast. Gery could always be found watching or attending the Alabama Football games. Up until his recent illness, he never missed a Tide in Texas watch party. Gery and Terri had the opportunity to travel to many championship games to cheer on their "Tide." One of their fondest memories was attending the 2010 National Championship Game in Pasadena, California at the Rose Bowl. Gery's love for Alabama Football was second only to his family.

To know Gery was to love him. He made friends no matter where he went. He was the epitome of selflessness and humility. He was a faithful man of Christ, loving husband, father, "Pop" to four beautiful boys, and dedicated friend. He leaves a legacy of love behind him. His smile, sense of humor, and "radio voice" will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Gery is survived by his wife, Terri; children, Ashley Fox and husband, Jeremy, and Kevin Jackson and wife, Amy; grandchildren, Jackson, Hudson, Kaden, and Xavier DelSignore; sister, Debby Richardson; nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Dr., Arlington, 76012. Interment: 1 p.m. Wednesday at DFW National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, at Moore Funeral Home.
