She was born and raised in Staten Island, NY and has lived in Port St Lucie for 35 years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Art (Skip) Nelson and their four children, Noreen, Skip (Pattie), Edward (Tsuna) and Kristen; sister-in-law, Dr. Marguerite Nelson (Brandon); five grandchildren, Megan, Patrick(Hillary), Kellie, Amy and Desiree; five great grandchildren, Jadan, Riley, Lacey, Skylar and Julia, as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Julia Finley and her brother Edward (Bud) Finley.
Joann was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for over 30 years. She was actively involved with the Church and was a past president of the CCW, as well as two years as Deanery North President.
She was a wonderful wife and mother, loving grandmother, best friend and the glue that held our family together. We will miss her sparkling Irish eyes and smile.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm at Aycock Funeral Home, 1504 Floresta Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie on, Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 11:00 am.
