John was born in Denver, CO on January 24, 1949 to Lloyd D. Olmedo and Juanita Morales Putnam. He grew up in the Denver Metro area, graduating from Merit Hutton High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1968 - 1976; serving two tours of duty in Vietnam in 1968 & 1971. For most of his working life, John was a Meat & Dairy Inspector for the USDA.
He was a beautiful soul who found joy in this life. He loved the outdoors and life in Colorado suited him well. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies. He was known to have dabbled in Taekwondo. John's greatest accomplishment in this life was bringing into this world five wonderful children, of whom he was always proud.
John is survived by his children Tony Olmedo, Cheyenne Olmedo, Maria Alcon, Kaylynn Olmedo, Shania Olmedo and their respective partners; his brothers Richard Olmedo and Charles Fields; his sisters Stephanie Olmedo and Deborah Munson and their respective partners; and nine beautiful grandchildren.
A Mass of Catholic Burial is scheduled for Monday, September 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Williams Catholic Church in Fort Lupton, CO with a Committal Service to follow at Hillside Cemetery in Fort Lupton, CO at 12:30 PM. Military Honors to be bestowed.
