It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alice Julia Cormier at the age of 95, in her family home in Margaree Forks on September 16, 2020 with her sister Carmel by her side.
Alice was a very strong, independent, kind and caring person who enjoyed life. She was known for her red hair, colorful vocabulary, her baked goods and going to bingo.
Being raised on a farm as an only child, she did it all from hauling water, to twitching logs, to looking after the farm. There was nothing that she couldn't turn her hand to. There was always a way to get things done.
In 1954 she married the love of her life, Mose Arthur Cormier and raised a family of five. For many years she worked at the Margaree Lodge in the laundry department.
Alice lived a life of deep faith and love of God. She prayed the rosery daily and always had a novena on the go. She was a member of St. Patrick's parish, North East Margaree and a member of St. Patrick's CWL.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Christina) Cormier, Maureen (James) Chiasson, Barbara (Leonard) Wyrwas, Patricia Cormier, Karen Cormier-MacIsaac; grandchildren, Lauren Cormier (Paul), Jillian Cormier, Brock Cormier (Jenny), Felicia Chiasson, Travis (Morgan) Chiasson, Addison Chiasson (Rachael), Nathan (Cassie) Wyrwas, Devin Wyrwas (Dana), Randy Wyrwas (Kortney), Patrick Lemal (Aimee), Shannon Lemal, Ronan MacIsaac, great-grandchildren, Hudson Chiasson, Leif Smith, Larkin Wyrwas, sister in-law, Helen Murphy; siblings, Dennis (Mary Catherine) Murphy, Lillian Landsburg, Carmel (Davy) Timmons, Kevin (Joan) Murphy, Hughie (Mary) Murphy, Ranold Murphy, Ursula (Patrick) Butler, Grace (Frank) McNab, Eugene (Julie) Murphy; 1st cousins, Jessie (Maurice) Kowal, Margaret Kulchyckz
Besides her parents, Martin and Alice (Doyle) Murphy and Michael and Julia (Miller) Doyle, Alice was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Mose Arthur Cormier, her brother, Patrick Murphy; Catherine and James Murphy in infancy, all from the 1st family, Martin Murphy, Bridget McKeough, Bernadette and Catherine Murphy from the 2nd family, in-laws, Allen Landsburg, Bill McKeough. Alice was the last surviving member of the 1st family.
Special thanks to Mary Chiasson, Carmel Timmons, Mary Burton and the Home Care Nurses for all their care and compassion over the last couple of years.
