COLUMBIA Beverly M. Minter went on to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2020, 7 days before her 96th birthday. Born September 27, 1924 in Cheraw, S.C. to W. Donovan and Lela McManus, she graduated Winthrop University with a bachelor’s degree. On April 24, 1948, she married William S. Minter, Jr. who was in the Life Insurance and Real Estate business his entire career. She was a longtime member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Beverly also volunteered at the Columbia Museum of Art and Baptist Medical Center for years, and enjoyed her Lake Katherine neighborhood bridge club and traveling, Spring Valley and The Palmetto Clubs, and working with her husband after raising their son.
Predeceased by her husband in 2009, brother, Bill McManus and sister, Betty Lynn (McManus) Harkins, she is survived by her son, William S. Minter, III; grandsons, Will IV and John, and former daughter-in-law, Susan Minter Deeb.
The family greatly appreciates the care these last years by the fine team at Life Care Center of Columbia, and respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, any donation be made to Kilbourne Park Baptist Church Building Fund. With today’s unusual health environment, there will only be a simple family graveside service on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.
