With deepest sorrow, we announce that Hector Gallardo, age 73, our most beloved husband, father, son, brother and grandfather, passed away suddenly and Jesus called him home on October 12, 2020. He was born on May 27, 1947 in Cementville, Texas.
Hector spent most of his life working in Belvidere, Illinois at an assembly plant before returning home and working for the Takata (Toyota) Plant and the San Antonio Independent School District, before he finally retired. While working in Illinois, Hector was an avid sports enthusiast and a lifelong fan of the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Blackhawks, but especially the Chicago Bears. In Illinois, Hector was an avid bowler and played on several bowling leagues. Hector was a wonderful brother and friend. Hector had a way of making lifelong friends no matter where he went. He was committed to his family and friendships. Hector had a sweet tooth and loved apple and pumpkin pies. Hector will be remembered for the love he had for his wife, family and friends. We will miss you and love you always. The memory of you will always be in our hearts.
Hector was preceded in death by his father, Ernesto and mother Hortencia R. Gallardo, his eldest brother Ernesto R. Gallardo and his sister Rosie Teresa Carreon.
Hector is survived by his loving wife, Diana Gallardo and his three children, David Gallardo, Michael Gallardo and Becky Gallardo.
He will be deeply missed and survived by his siblings Mary Gallardo, Lucy Gallardo, Elsa Barrera (Robert), Robert Gallardo (Lucy), Jesse Gallardo (Diane) Richard Gallardo (Debra) David Gallardo (Melody), Judy Kabo (Jeff), Jesse Herrera (brother-in-law) and Beatrice Herrera (mother-in-law).
Hector had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a great-great nephew.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N. Main Ave., San Antonio, Texas, 78205 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Requiem Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 4306 St. John’s Way, San Antonio, Texas, 78212 on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.
