Justin Gary Courter passed away on October 14, 2020 in Holt, MI. He was 31 and worked as a train conductor—a job that kept him on his toes and where his coworkers lovingly referred to him as “Tank.” He grew up in Mason where he found his passion in playing football, which later transitioned into a love for the gym, his own personal sanctuary. His love for animals ran deep and was most recently illustrated when he adopted and cared for a stray cat. But his love for his family ran so much deeper. His selfless nature and contagious laugh were his trademark to those who loved him. He was a helper in every sense of the word, whether it was with a hand or a laugh. His generosity continues as he was an organ and tissue donor and will help many more to live a life as fully as he did. He shared his sense of humor with his brother Jordan, with whom he spent countless hours making up stories to TV shows and laughing at jokes only the two of them understood. He is deeply loved by his family and will never be forgotten!
He is preceded in death by grandparents, Thelma and Arvel Bailey. He is survived by his parents, John and Jackie Courter, brother Jordan Courter, grandparents Gary and Glenalie Courter, uncle Mike (Rosemary) Bailey, uncle Edward Bailey, aunt Lisa (Jim) Chapman, aunt Mary (Jeff) Diedrich, and multiple cousins.
Due to Covid the Courter family will honor his memory with a small, private service.
Donations in Justin's memory can be made to Capital Area Humane Society at CAHS-Lansing.org.
