Margaret was born in Besoco, WV on August 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Lonnie and Opal Garretson.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Perry Garretson and sisters, Marcelle Bruce and Nina Taylor.
Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Dean Smith; son, John and Carolyn Smith of Kill Devils Hill, NC; daughter, Linda and Sam Bellomo of Purcellville, VA; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Smith of Christiansburg, VA, Jason and Anna Smith of Amarillo, TX, Ethan Smith of Lovettsville, VA and Katie Bellomo of Purcellville, VA; brothers, Paul Garretson of Woodbridge, VA and James and Pam Garretson of Beaver, WV.
Margaret was a 1952 graduate of Stoco High School in Coal City, WV. Margaret and Dean moved to Alexandria, VA in 1961 and then settled in Sterling, VA from 1963 to 2004. They lived in Charles Town, WV from 2004-2018 and currently reside in Martinsburg, WV.
Margaret worked as a supervisor at Electronic Instrumentation Inc. (EIT) in Sterling for 30 years. Margaret loved cooking for her family, but her specialty was making fudge, peanut butter balls and cheesecake at Christmas which she loved to share with her cherished family and friends.
Margaret’s services will be held on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
Visitation will be held from 11:00AM until 12:00PM with the funeral service beginning at 12:00PM, followed by a committal service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
