Scottye was a faith-filled woman who loved serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, spending time in His presence, and ministering to those in need. Scottye’s door was always open, and her passion for interior design and cooking became a part of her ministry of helping and serving others. She had the gift of always making even the simplest things special and beautiful.
Scottye was passionate about spending time with her husband, Jim, grandchildren, family, and friends, and a day with her was filled with laughter, delicious food, playing games, working puzzles, and enjoying all the many blessings in her life.
Scottye’s life began July 7, 1950, in Denton, Texas as the daughter of Wallace Everett Day and Ida Pearl Mullins Day. She graduated from South Garland High School in 1969. Scottye began her career working as a model at the Dallas Apparel Mart and moved into direct sales for Formby’s Home Refinishing. Years later she decided to go out on her own and opened her own interior design business of home interiors and clothing boutiques in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. Later in life, she started Scottye’s Creative Design, specializing in interior decorating and home staging in Austin, Texas. Scottye had the gift for seeing the potential and bringing out the beauty in anyone and anything.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, James Kindred Saul Sr., daughter Stacey Lynn Blackshear and husband Paul, their children Maddie, JD, Dean and Emily of Atascocita, Texas, and son Eric Chandler Dodson, wife Lindsey Dodson, and their son Chandler of Pflugerville, Texas. Also her step daughter, Stacy Melissa Saul of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, step son James Kindred Saul Jr. of Pensacola, Florida, her brother Paul Everett Day, and wife Terrie Day of Bedford, Texas, and nephews Brandon Day, wife Linda Day, and their children Braden, Kason, and Blakely of Farmers Branch, Texas, and Travis Day and his children Tyler, Miles and Rachel of Bedford, Texas, and Paul Russell Day and his wife Kim of Bedford, Texas. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins and cherished friends.
A memorial service celebrating Scottye’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on November 6 at Kingwood Funeral Home in Kingwood.
