Horace Daughtrey, Jr. (“Doc”) was born to the late Horace Daughtrey, Sr. and Inez McIver on November 20, 1935 in Bristol, Florida. At an early age, the family moved to Daytona Beach, FL. Doc was the first born child of three children. He served 25 years in the United States Navy where his specialty was ABF Chief. He had many tours while in the navy. Prior to his retirement for the navy in 1985, Doc received a National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Upon completion of his military duty, he was a model citizen striving to do the best he could every day. His passion for fishing was a way of life for him. Doc loved the peace and quiet when gliding across the water. Spending quality time on the water was one of his greatest rewards. He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Daytona Beach, FL. Horace possessed a loving and forgiving spirit. He never received any person as a stranger. You were always welcomed into his home. A firm handshake, sincere smile and hug were easily given by him. He loved his family immensely and was always willing to help them even if it meant him doing without.
