Lorraine Lou Lietzke, age 90 went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2020. She was born on December 10, 1929, the daughter of Clarence and Ilo Housenkamp, and raised on a farm outside of St. Louis, Michigan. Lorraine moved to Lansing shortly after graduating high school and attended Lansing Comptometer School. While at a Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) dance, she met her husband John Lietzke who she married on May 24, 1952 and moved to DeWitt where they remained all their lives.
During her life, Lorraine was employed at JC Penny's and then transitioned to General Motors where she spent 32 years in the payroll department. After retirement, Lorraine met with other GM retirees for lunch. They called these the "Old Crates" luncheons. Lorraine's faith guided her life as she was an active member of Grace Lutheran church, ECLA in Lansing, MI. Lorraine is remembered for her gardening skills, being an avid card player, and her witty personality. She loved to cook and bake for friends and family and her recipes will be passed down for generations to come, most famously, her chocolate pie. In her later years, when you would ask her a question, she would say to look in the Bible and you would find your answer. She was incredibly humble and led by example.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Lietzke, sister Forestine Oster, and nephew Darrel Housenkamp. Lorraine is survived by her children; Linda (Mark) Zarkovich, of DeWitt, MI, Gerald (Gay) Lietzke of Casselberry, Fl.; grandchildren Andy (Christine) Zarkovich, of DeWitt, MI Rachel Lietzke, of Sandford, Fl.; great grandchildren Ryder and Baron; her brother Richard (Doloris) Housenkamp, of St. Louis, MI as well as many nieces and nephews.
