He was a true gentleman with a benevolent and loving soul. He is survived by his wife Patricia
of 54 years, daughters Alessandra (John), Laura and Stephanie (Jeff), grandchildren Anthony
and Taylor, great-granddaughter Finn, brother Peter (Susan), brother-in-law Brian McDonald
(Ligia), numerous Granucci, Corsiglia and Taylor cousins and his dog Guido. He is preceded in
death by his mother Margaret, father Roy and younger sister Jeannie.
On August 26, 1942 Steve was born in San Francisco, Calif. He was the oldest son of
Margaret and Roy Granucci. Steve attended St. Emydius School, graduated from Archbishop
Riordan High School, Class of 1960, and went on to graduate from St. Mary’s College, Class of
1964. He received his Master of Arts in History from University of San Francisco.
Steve married his high school sweetheart, Patricia McDonald in 1966. They moved from San
Francisco to Mill Valley to raise their family. He was a proud and loving father of three
daughters. He was a loyal friend and considered those closest to him as family. He was always
most content when surrounded by family, immediate and/or extended; who would routinely
gather for holidays and summers in Lake Tahoe.
In 2004 Steve and Pat moved to Santa Rosa. After retirement they traveled and spent time
with family and friends. Steve enjoyed road cycling and gardening and found pleasure doing
these activities with his wife. After 15 years, Steve and Pat moved to Brentwood to enjoy
retired resort living.
Steve dedicated his life to teaching in San Francisco. He started his career at Roosevelt
Middle School in 1966 and went on to teach at Lowell High School for 30 years. He retired
from Lowell in 2007. Mr. Granucci or Mr. G, as some students called him, was a deeply
admired teacher and a role model to all of his students. Mr. Granucci made every student feel
seen, heard and appreciated. He was a mentor and positive influence to many people and his
memory will live on by all who were taught by him. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy.
Steve will be remembered for his kindness, wit and dedication to his family, friends, students
and colleagues. He lived a life of service all while suffering from migraines and chronic back
pain.Never the less Steve carried himself with poise and never let it stop him from living his life.
Steve put others first and would go the extra mile for anyone even though he was in pain. His
suffering is finally over. He is in peace and looking out for all of us from Heaven.
Due to current restrictions Steve’s Celebration of Life has been postponed to a later date.
