Melba L. Millican, age 83, of Gardendale, Alabama passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020. Melba was born April 14, 1937. She grew up in Hanceville, Alabama. She was married to Charles Millican. They moved to Gardendale in 1964 where they raised their daughters. She worked as a hair stylist in the community. She loved cooking for her family, gardening and fishing. Her favorite thing was spending time with her six grandsons who knew her as "Mamaw". She was a member of Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. She set an example for all who knew her as a kind and patient lady with a true servant's heart.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Annie Lee, her sister Mary Nell Ransom, and her brothers Ray Lee and Roy Lee. She is survived by her husband of 61 years Charles Millican; her daughters Carolyn(Tim) Cuthbertson, Susan(Tim) Slaney and Jenny(Matt) DeFore; her grandsons Charlie(Lauren Jada) Whitehurst, Tommy Cuthbertson, Cody Whitehurst, Brannon(Madelyn) DeFore, Brett DeFore, and Ian Cuthbertson, as well as several nieces and a nephew and great-nieces and a great-nephew.
A graveside service for Melba will be held Monday, November 23, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, Alabama 35211.
