Alexander “Al” Aleo, 98, of East Hartford, entered into eternal life to join his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary (Calipari) Aleo. He peacefully passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020 in the comfort of his home. He was born in Boston, MA on October 4, 1922, to Joseph and Josephine (Pitrone) Aleo, He had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 74 years. Al was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II. While in the Army, he was a member of the Infantry Band and Orchestra.
Prior to his retirement, Al was the Owner and Operator of Lynn’s Shoes on Main Street, Glastonbury for 28 years. He was a former member of the Glastonbury Chamber of Commerce and served two terms as president of the Merchants Division. He was also a former member of the Glastonbury Lions Club. Being from Boston, Al was a “die hard” fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots and horse racing became his favorite pastime. Most of all, Al cherished his time with his four precious grandchildren, attending all their activities and supporting their many accomplishments. He especially loved watching them play sports. In his later years he looked forward to visits with his great-grandchildren.
Al is survived by his two devoted daughters, Marilyn “Micki” Boccaccio and her husband Paul of East Hartford, Susan Quaglia and her husband Joseph of Manchester; four beloved grandchildren, Joseph Boccaccio of Hoboken, NJ, Jodie Quaglia and Michael Bradley of Bronx, NY, Nicholas Boccaccio and his wife Allison of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Randie Phillips and her husband TJ Phillips of Milford; and five adored great-grandchildren, MJ Bradley, Blake Phillips, Bria Phillips, Isabel Dionne, and Gianna Boccaccio. He also leaves a sister, Gloria Banyacski of Malden, MA; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Mullins of Port Saint Lucie, FL, Virginia “Dolly” Tozier of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. Besides his beloved wife and parents, Al was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
Due to the current health pandemic, private funeral service and burial with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
