He was born in San Angelo Texas on February 26, 1944 to Richard Joseph and Pearl Moormeier Perkin.
Most people around town knew Rick as their pharmacist as he was the owner of Perkin’s Apothecary and Mercantile in Colorado City. When you walked into the store you were greeted by name with a warm and welcoming tone, as he made sure to learn your name. He was the type of person who never met a stranger, and loved everyone. Rick was a life member of the First United Methodist Church of Colorado City and he was a very godly man. For many years he was the senior high youth director for the church. He would also hold nightly bible studies in his closet, which was a time to reflect and pray for everyone he loved.
Rick was also a very family oriented man making sure to spend as much time as he could with them and making sure to enjoy every moment while raising his children. He would set up little adventures and treasure hunts for the children. Whenever he had the chance Rick loved to teach people new things as he was an educator at heart and could compete with Google on knowledge. When Rick was around you would never be bored as he loved to have fun. A truly genuine heart; quick to provide a laugh with his no filter personality. In his spare time Rick enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, rooting for Texas Tech, and visiting friends.
Rick is survived by his wife Patty Perkin of Colorado City; sons, Chris Perkin and wife Keely of Weatherford and Patrick Perkin of Colorado City; daughters, Shannon Richburg and husband Monte of Champion and Dani Perkin of Colorado City. He is also survived by his grandchildren Logan and Landry Perkin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Perkin and two sisters Marge Moore and Mary Jo Jones.
A memorial service for Rick will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Colorado City on Thursday, January 7th at 2pm with Pastor Donald Ward officiating.
