Lois Wallis, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2021. She was surrounded by her family in her home at the time of her earthly departure. Lois Leanna Williams was born on October 3, 1930 in Grubbs, Arkansas to parents Joe and Ethel Williams. She was the youngest of her parents' 8 children, with 4 brothers and 3 sisters. She was the last living sibling. She and her family moved to Memphis when she was a child where she later attended Central High School and Memphis State University. If there is one thing Lois was known for it was being a very savvy business woman. She began her career working with Sears as a traveling supervisor and later branched into Real Estate where she had immense success, winning many awards and loyal clients. Lois started her real estate career in Memphis in 1969 and continued after moving to Little Rock. She loved her work and how it brought her in contact with people from so many different walks of life. She truly lived a life that was full of acceptance and kindness towards strangers, something that brought her many new friends throughout her lifetime.
Aside from her career, perhaps the most important aspect of her life was her family. She married the love of her life, Jack Wallis, on August 14,1955. Together they had two children, Debbie and Mike. Motherhood came naturally to her, as did many other things, such as cooking and hosting large holiday gatherings full of recipes that will now be passed down to her loved ones. She and Jack were active members of First Baptist Church in Little Rock for over 40 years before moving to Jacksonville to be close to her family and most importantly, her great grandbabies. Her son Mike passed away on December 6, 2016. They are now with each other in heaven.
She is survived by her husband Jack, her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Terry Brown, her daughter-in-law, Annette Wallis, grandchildren: Michael and Nicole Brown, Karen and Ryan Sweat, Andrew Wallis, Kristen Wallis, and great grandchildren Jackson Brown, Sinclair Sweat, and Aspen Sweat.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
A service honoring her life will be held on Monday, January 11th at 11:00am at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills (850 St. Johns Bluff Road N, Jacksonville, FL).
