Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed peacefully in her sleep, January 6th, 2021 in the early hours of morning, she was 88 years old. Born in 1932 in Norway, Michigan. She was a widow, who was married to Robert D. McConnell (3/25/1928 - 7/9/2000) for 50 years. Loma was a mother to 6 daughters, her living daughters are Colleen Holroyd, Michelle Venegas and her husband Rudy, Linda White and her husband Mike, and her 3 daughters who are no longer with us Mary Rosales, Karen McConnell, and Debbie McConnell.
Along with her 3 surviving daughters, she has a myriad of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kenneth Barger and his wife Tracy, Nicole McConnell, Jon Price and his wife Jennifer, Robert Price, Megan Price, Juan Carrillo and his husband Gary, Mathew White and his love Dre , Tina Fernandez and her husband Luis, Rosie Mencia and her husband Jay, Loma is also survived by her Brother Bill Wall and his wife Judy and Sister Betty Carr as well as her great grandchildren Juan G. Fernandez, Alejandro g. Fernandez, Amalinda Marie Flores. Roger Mencia, Seth Mencia, Owen and Lexi Mencia.
Loma Worked for 22 years at Host International restaurant group before retiring from Host to move from California to Florida where she continued working for another 15 years at Target. She was a fanatic about basketball, knowing stats and schedules, for her favorite team, The Orlando Magic and she was not a fan of Lebron James, an avid reader she loved Danielle Steele novels and enjoyed country music, especially Travis Tritt.
Loma was a spitfire, incredibly determined, always in charge and usually over prepared, as we could tell by all the little notes, she left us that pertained to her passing such as clothes, no shoes and absolutely no bra! Her spirit was like no other, she could command a room full of the noisiest family with just the boom of her voice, and if she asked you or told you …. you best do it now, because she did not mean later. Open minded and firmly grounded in her spirituality, Loma never judged or slighted, what she taught us all and what she gave us we will carry with us always close to our hearts as we continue this journey without her. Hopefully, we will continue to make her proud by carrying ourselves how she would have expected and every now and then smile when we use her favorite word … “Dammitt”.
As I write this we can definitely say “Dammitt Loma, we love you, and we will be forever grateful for the time we had with you, and you will be with us always.”
We may have lost our Matriarch, but we will never give up our memories of her and her gorgeous smile.
