Lucile was born on the family farm to homesteaders, Chris and Rose Kahre, on August 13, 1917 in Osgood, Colorado. She was the oldest of five daughters. The family moved to Denver in 1929. She attended Emmaus Lutheran School and graduated from North High School. She married George W. Hecht on April 4, 1937 – together they had 3 children, Sonja Yvonne, Kenneth George, and Joyce Lucile. They enjoyed square dancing and playing pinochle with family and friends. They enjoyed exploring and camping in the mountains of Colorado and fishing in it's beautiful lakes. They owned a cabin in Evergreen where they hosted Thanksgiving for the family for many years. Lucile was a caregiver to elderly family members and cared for many children in the family as well. She was also a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout Troop. She was welcoming and inclusive and had many friends.
In addition to the abundance of sewing she did for her own family, she was an accomplished seamstress and dressmaker and taught sewing at an opportunity school. She worked at Frederick’s Fabrics for several years. She was very involved with Emmaus Lutheran Church and that extended to the school when she drove the school bus for Emmaus Lutheran School for many years. Lucile was also the I.B.E.W. treasurer for 10 years, as well as a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church later in her life. She was dearly loved by her family and all who knew her.
