Virginia M. Riggs

Virginia M. Riggs, 95, of Bloomington, died Tuesday August 13, 2013 in her residence. She was born March 15, 1918 in Greene County, Indiana. She was the daughter of James L. Burks and Frances Raper Burks. Survivors include two sisters, Fredonna Curry and Jane Flinn and her husband Robert all of Bloomington; a grandson, Michael Kinser and his wife Shelly of Yorktown, VA; a great-grandson, Michael Quinn Kinser of Yorktown, VA; a great-granddaughter, Kristi Barker of Oklahoma; three great-great grandchildren, Kyle, Keilee and Kiana Barker; a sister-in-law, Beverly Burks of Redding CA; a former son-in-law, Paul Kinser of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold A. Riggs; a daughter, Beverly Riggs Kinser Cowden; her parents; two brothers, Jack T. Burks and James Burks; a sister, Marguerite Delaney; a sister-in-law, Shirley Burks; and two brothers-in-law, Foster Curry and Paul Delaney. Memberships include The Free Methodist Church of Bloomington and Alpha Delta Omega Sorority. She was an avid golf enthusiast and bowler. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 in the chapel at Red Bud Hills Apartments, 3211 East Moores Pike. Burial will follow at a later date in the Elks section of Valhalla Memory Gardens. Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
