Dale Lynn Sides

20 April, 1941 – 8 January, 2021

Funeral services for Dale Lynn Sides, 79, of Lake Brownwood will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Rocky Creek Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Rocky Creek Cemetery. Mr. Sides passed away January 8, 2021.

Dale was born April 20, 1941 in Odessa, Texas to Walter and Eunice (Dillard) Sides. He married his high-school sweetheart, Bonnie Bailey June 16, 1961 and they were blessed to have 59 ½ years together. Dale had a servant’s heart and a great faith in God, and it showed throughout his life in the many good works he accomplished. He served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years at Rocky Creek Baptist Church, as well as being a member of Gideon’s International. Dale also a Scout Master for 10 years where he helped all three of his sons become Eagle Scouts. Dale was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He never hesitated to help anyone in need, no matter how great or small that need was.

Dale leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Bonnie; sons Michael Wade Sides and wife Leigh Ann, Robert Wayne Sides and wife Cheryl and Steven Wynn sides and wife Danette; 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren (2 more on the way); brothers Alan, Jerry and Rex Sides; sister-in-law Dorothy Swaringen and brother-in-law Harold Bailey.

Dale, was one of the finest Christians I know. He was a such a Godly man. So involved in every aspect of church and community. You could see him at working at good Samaritan or working meals on wheels. He was always at church caring about everyone no matter what age they were. When he saw a little child, he alway had star bursts in his pocket and let them pick the color they wanted . My grandson always looked for him when he went to church with me. I remember when he and some one had a disagreement and on a Wednesday night, he got up and apoligize to that person. I saw such humanness in him and able to make it right in church. What an example for me and others to see. Rocky Creek lost a true man of God, Heaven gained a Saint now serving in Heaven.

Mr. Sides was my principal back in the '70s at Intermediate School in Brownfield, and he was one of my heroes. I can still remember the sound of his voice coming over the public address system each morning as he welcomed us to school. It always brought stability and a sense of peace to my day. Oh, how we need more men like Dale Sides in our world. My prayers are with you, dear family, as you celebrate his life and grieve his passing. May you feel the Lord's peace surrounding you today.
