Obituary of Montague Uriah Dixon II
Montague U. Dixon, II Montague Uriah Dixon, II ("Monty"), a lifelong resident of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away on November 30, 2018 following a brief illness. Affectionately known to family and friends as "Bokey," Monty was born in Charlottesville on May 23, 1947 and was the loving son of Mary Elizabeth (Armistead) Dixon Blankenship and Montague U. Dixon. He was also a devoted brother to Randall Armistead Blankenship. An avid athlete in high school, Monty was a dedicated UVA sports fan. After a successful career as a small business owner, Monty enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and was known to help anyone in need. Monty was a lifelong supporter of veterans and spent much of his free time at VFW Post 1827. Survivors include his children, Montague and his wife Katherine Dixon, Michael Dixon, Mary Elizabeth (Dixon) Levy, Mark and his wife Wendy Dixon, and Monica L. (Dixon) Huband and her husband JT Huband. Monty was also a devoted grandfather to fourteen grandchildren, Keller and Benjamin Dixon, Matthew and Elizabeth Dixon, Molly and Max Levy, Houston and Emily Dixon, Noah and Emma Hutchens, and Justin, Eli, Olivia, and Zachary Huband. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Karen Cash Blankenship and two nieces, Kandy Blankenship Rothgeb and Kara Blankenship Floyd. Monty was preceded in death by his devoted wife of thirty-five years, Barbara Herndon Dixon, and by his beloved brother, Randy Blankenship. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 5th, from 7-9 pm at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville. A celebration of Monty's life will be held Thursday, December 6th, at 2 pm at Teague Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Monticello Memory Gardens. Following the burial, friends and relatives are invited to join the family for a reception at VFW Post 1827, 1170 River Road, Charlottesville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Monty's memory to VFW Post 1827, 1170 River Road, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901.
