Obituary of Mr. Buddie R. McKay
Buddie R. McKay, Age 85 of Hebron, IN, formerly passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the VNA Hospice facility in Valparaiso, IN. He was born on June 13, 1934 in Jamestown, PA to his loving parents Ralph Thomas and Rebecca (Quinland) McKay. Buddie really enjoyed keeping busy. He enlisted in the US Army in 1956 and received an honorable discharge in 1960. The military allowed him to see the world and enjoy countries such as Norway and Greenland along with many of the Southern United States. He was a communications expert and really put his typing skills to use along with being a part of the Military Police while serving his country. His position as a Railroad Detective for Norfolk-Southern spread over many decades. During his time away from the railroad, he cared for many animals. Buddie truly loved all animals. His family will miss his ability to always be a part of every conversation and help answer any questions they would ask him. He is survived by his devoted children, Cathy (Albert) Littman, Debbie (Terry) DelGatto, John McKay, James McKay, Michael McKay; and many grandchildren. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Brenda Sheppard, his parents; Ralph and Rebecca McKay along with many of his adored four legged Boston Terriers. Friends and family may call upon Chapel Lawn Funeral home from 10AM until the time of the service on Saturday, November 30, 2019. His funeral service and celebration will take place at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home located at 8178 Cline Ave., Crown Point, IN, 46307 on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 12PM. Pastor Shawn Cornett will be officiating. Military Honors will be rendered after the funeral service.
