Michael S. Somers

Michael S. Somers, age 70, of Valparaiso, Indiana passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022. Michael was born March 4, 1952, in Gary, IN. He leaves behind his children: Dawn (Geoffrey) Hudson, Steven (Stacy) Somers; grandchildren: Gabriella Pagan, Adelynn Hudson, Atticus, Allister, Anakin, and Audrey Somers; mother, Kathleen Van; and siblings, Margaret Press, Robert, James, and Charles Somers. Michael is preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald and Tom Somers, and his father Thomas Somers. He will be remembered as a wonderful Grandpa, and beloved Son, Father, and Brother. He was a storyteller, a musician, a protector of butterflies, and an avid dreamer who still believed in magic. He was a wonderful gardener with a particular love for roses. As a Grandpa he was always there for his grandchildren. Whether rocking one to sleep, playing on the floor, reading them books, or traveling on family adventures big and small. He was always there when they needed him; his time was always theirs. He will be missed dearly. Per Michael’s wishes, a private family gathering to celebrate his life will take place on Monday, October 3, 2022.
