RENE OTTO GRIFFIN Rene Otto Griffin, age 86, was peacefully united with the Lord on February 19, 2016. He is predeceased by his wife of 56 years Imogene. He is survived by his son, Michael W. (Christina), sister, Sarah Berneida (Joseph) Taylor and granddaughter, Abigail Griffin. Rene loved and enjoyed the blessing of many nephews, nieces, great nieces, great nephews, great grand nephews, and great grand nieces - recently adding two more. Rene is a retired employee of the former Inland Steel Company, where he worked in the 44" and 80" Hot Strips as a Millwright and Technician. Rene was a member of the Garfield Lodge 569 F&AM (service 7:00 p.m. Thursday), and served as a mentor. He also attained to the 32nd degree, Scottish Rite. Rene also served in the Indiana Army National Guard. Funeral services will be held on Friday February 26, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 8718 Cline Avenue Schererville, with Rev. James L. Sparks officiating and Rev. Craig Ison, co-officiating. Interment will be at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. While flowers are welcome, if preferred, a contribution to a charity of choice in memory of Rene Griffin also will be affirmed gratefully.
