Charles F. Eichele

Charles F. Eichele, 96, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019. He was born on August 24, 1923 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Charles F. and Nellie (Haley) Eichele. He drove a city bus in Evansville for serveral years where he met his wife, Lela Frances Terrell. He worked 26 years as a mechanical engineer for Hahn Inc. and 18 years as a machinist at Evansville Electric. Charles was a longtime member of Bible Center (The Cathedral) from back in its Radio Tabernacle era on North Main Street. He loved working at his home and in his yard, traveling, and spending time with his family. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 72 years, Lela Frances Eichele in 2018; and son, Mark Eichele in 2004. He is survived by daughters, Sharon Fesmire (Allan) and Rebecca Grove (Rod); son, Stephen Eichele (Cathy); grandchildren, Jonathan Fosdick, Rachel Koch (Brendan), Melissa Edmondson (Scotty), Rodney Grove II, and Jessica Wolf (Chris); three great-grandchildren; and cousin Robert Laubscher. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at The Cathedral with Rev. Rick Van Hoose officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Campground Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel and Thursday 10:00 a.m. until service time at The Cathedral.
