IN THE CARE OF
Alexander Funeral Home - North Chapel
Donald Robert Wedeking, Sr., 92, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at his home in Evansville. He was born October 25, 1926, one of six children of Charles and Lillian (Schaller) Wedeking.
A skilled builder and carpenter, Donald constructed many beautiful homes in the Evansville area. He enjoyed building furniture, playing golf, listening to big band music, being outdoors, and observing wildlife. He was a formidable opponent at cards and had fun playing Clabber, Dirty Dog, and Scat. Donald was proud to be an Eagle Scout, having earned over 60 badges. But more than anything, he loved his family and dancing with his wife, Ellen (Lauer) Wedeking, who preceded him in death.
Also preceding him in death are his parents; brothers Charles Wedeking (Betty) and Harold Wedeking; along with sisters Dorothy Roeder (Del); and Venita Hines (Horace).
Surviving are his sister June Wedeking; son Donald R. Wedeking, Jr. (Leah); daughter Susan Wedeking Gregory (Stan); grandson Nathan Wedeking (Kyndal); and granddaughter Harper Wedeking – all of Evansville; as well as granddaughter Cassandra Wedeking (Severin Piehl) of Charleston, South Carolina; and granddaughter Laura Matheny (Adam) of Mankato, Minnesota. Donald is also survived by six great grandchildren (with another one due in November), and several nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vanderburgh County Humane Society.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family online at www.AlexanderNorthChapel.com.
