Obituary of Dorothy Mae Dorris
Dorothy Mae Dorris, 103, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. She was born on October 20, 1916 in Calhoun, Kentucky to the late Thompson and Sally Eva (Dexter) Payne. She was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God. Dorothy retired from Red Spot after 45 years as Manager of the Art Department. She enjoyed square dancing and was an excellent cook. Dorothy loved watching football, especially the Chiefs and the Colts. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Alvin Dorris; son, Thomas P. Dorris; great-great-grandson, Kaiser Schlimmer; sister, Aleene Mackey; and brothers, J.D., Bill, and Charles Payne. She is survived by her daughter, Hue Carol Gibson; grandchildren, Jill Plough (Steve), David Gibson (LaVonda), DeWayne Gibson (Lisa), and Todd Gibson; 10 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Saturday November 23, 2019 at Alexander East Chapel with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
