Obituary of Edwin Lincoln Rhoads III
Edwin Lincoln Rhoads III, 56, of Fairfax, VA died suddenly of natural causes on October 20, 2019. Lincoln was born in Chicago, IL on May 21, 1963 to a family that saw and embraced the early days of computers. Naturally, it made sense for Lincoln to get his Bachelors in Business and Economics from Lakewood University, WI, and then his Master’s in Information Resource Management and Information Security from Syracuse University, NY where he met his wife, Vera. Lincoln made his way to Washington DC as a legislative intern in 1985, and has been a resident and active member of the community as the president of the Home Owner’s Association. He was a proven leader and visionary in the world of cyber security, kept himself up to date in various computing licenses and certifications, and developed extensive experience with federal and commercial clients. Lincoln kept life interesting with fun excursions like skydiving, NASCAR ride-a-longs, and travels with his wife. He is survived by his wife, Vera Rhoads, Fairfax; father, Edwin Lincoln Rhoads II, Vienna; uncle, Charles A. Patterson, Vienna; two cousins, Jennie Patterson and partner Daniel, Fairfax, and William Patterson, Vienna; and first cousin once removed, Shelby Cato, Fairfax. Lincoln is preceded in death by his mother, Elsa P. Rhoads; grandparents Edwin Lincoln and Magarie Rhoads, and grandparents Jennie and Carl Patterson. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1st at the Demaine Funeral Home on 10565 Main Street in Fairfax. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 2nd at the First Church of Christ, Scientist on 3725 Old Lee Highway in Fairfax. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Lincoln Rhoads Cybersecurity Scholarship at Syracuse University.
