Florence E. Gaylord

Florence Elizabeth (Carter) Gaylord Entered the presence of the Lord on October 12, 2011, at age 91. Preceded in eternal rest by her cherished husband of 65 years, Francis Southworth Gaylord. Beloved mother of Carol Gaylord Fenzl, John Carter Gaylord, and Richard Southworth Gaylord. Devoted grandmother of eight grand-children and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her loving sister, Jean Frances (Carter) Bosch. Florence was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Earle E. and Marguerite (Belden) Carter. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Russell Sage College in New York, Florence taught at Classical High School in Springfield, MA, and later with Falls Church and Fairfax County, Virginia schools. After moving from Springfield, MA, Florence and her family lived for many years in McLean, Virginia. She was active at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church for over 25 years. Following Francis’ retirement, Florence and her husband moved to Gulf Shores, Alabama, and then to Spanish Fort, Alabama. They recently moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to be closer to family. Funeral service planned for November 5, 2011, in McLean, Virginia, with interment to be with her husband at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia.Arrangements under the direction of National Funeral Home, Falls Church, VA.
